Arena Cove and Pier
Arena Theater
B. Bryan Preserve

Arena Cove is mere minutes away with a historical pier for boat launching and license-free pole fishing.  For cinema and music lovers, the Arena Theater is perfect for a National Theatre Live matinee or a Blues on the Coast performance.  If “getting close and personal” with wildlife is on your agenda, be sure to schedule a tour of the B.Bryan Preserve.

Surfing at Moat Creek
Horseback Riding

And for those seeking a different type of wild life, Arena Cove and Moat Creek Beach are renowned among surfers. Expand your perspective with privately guided Nature, Cultural and Wellness Experiences offered by award-winning Unbeaten Path Tours & Yoga. For a horse ride through the forest or on a long stretch of beach, Ross Ranch is nearby to guide you.

Adventure Rents
Point Arena Lighthouse

If a serene river roam appeals to you, Adventure Rents will outfit you for canoeing or kayaking the Gualala River. A visit to our iconic Point Arena Lighthouse is a must.  A climb of 145 steps to the top of the tower leads to a breathtaking view, and back on the ground its adjacent location to the Point Arena-Stornetta Public Lands provides wonderful bluff trails for wildlife and wildflower viewing.  Golfers will want to head over to the acclaimed Sea Ranch Golf Links.

Beaches & Hiking Trails To Explore

Mother Nature has showcased her diversity right here in our backyard.  Whether you want to lace up your hiking boots or kick off the shoes and bury your toes in the sand, we can point you in the right direction.

Alder Creek Beach
Manchester State Park
Point Arena-Stornetta Public Lands

The San Andreas Fault crosses from land into sea at Alder Creek Beach, located at the northern end of Manchester State Park.  Alder Creek is a magnificent spot for steelhead fishing (license required).  Manchester State Park offers 18,000 feet of oceanfront sand dunes and grasslands, with more than three miles of uninterrupted sandy shoreline.  Just north of town are the bluff trails of the Point Arena-Stornetta Public Lands, a stunning area for whale watching, birding, and wildflowers. Just south of town is Pelican Bluffs Preserve and Coastal Trail offering 2 miles of trail with stretches on high cliffs above the ocean. There is also a short (0.5 mile) flat loop trail through bishop pines and meadow.

Moat Creek Beach
Bowling Ball Beach
Schooner Gulch State Beach

Moat Creek Beach is a small rocky beach, located just south of Point Arena, and is a popular spot for surfers, kayakers and abalone divers.  Above the beach is a lovely bluff top trail, which overlooks the surfing spot known as “Whiskey Shoals.” The mysterious rows of boulders at Bowling Ball Beach are a sight to behold, but can only be seen at low tide.  Schooner Gulch State Beach is a sandy cove perfect for picnics and tide pools.
